History of animation

In 1937, the golden age of animation formed with its first colored full-feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs . Throughout the golden age, Disney brought forth not only new lengths of animation, but new story concepts as well. Snow White brought the idea of taking fairy tales and turning them into kid-friendly movies, as well as the well known idea of the Disney princess. The idea of exaggerating villains, telling stories through an animal's perspective, and the inclusion of dark scenes between uplifting silly scenes that created a silly mood, were the golden ages biggest accomplishments.

Sadly, with the death of Walt disney in 1966, created the Bronze Age, or the dark age of disney. Without Walt’s new ideas, the crew was lost on how to continue making films without him. This was a trial and error stage that resulted in creating films that were more secular and with a darker mood. On top of that , a new method called  xerography allowed 2D animation to be faster, but created scratchy black lines resulting the animation to appear sloppy. Out of all of the movies created during this time , only The Great. Mouse Detective was a hit in the box office

Closing the dark ages in 1989, The Little Mermaid created a renascence of movies that skyrocketed Disney’s profits and created big box office slams. With films like Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King, Disney pulled in millions to fund their organization.

End of the year blog post

My favorite part of this year was being able to learn about animation and how to create fluid movements and portray emotion. It’s something that really interested me and It helped me learn How to create a story. While I am unable to create a script, this class has helped me move forward into my dreams of creating my own cartoons.  What was most difficult for me however was just trying to learn and understand blender. For most it was easy, but for me it seemed like I missed a step every time! With practice, I’ll be able to improve though!

Plot roller coaster

Timing and spacing is important in animation because it is more pleasing to the viewer. It adds realism to the subject, or allows it to bring a character or object to life on the screen.
