pendulum animation sketches

Despite it being my first idea, I actually decided to choose the image in the first square. I chose this image because of its formal balance, as it makes it seem imposing and strong. the vertical lines also create a sense of formality and unity, and hopefully the dim spooky lighting added can create a sense of unease. While the set of my clock is always the same, the changing of a camera angle can create a brand new composition and sense of feeling for the viewer. I propose starting off in a formally balanced scene but slowly turning the angle, creating the appearance that the viewer is falling into a "portal" inside the clock almost.
Refer to your notes and answer how camera movements are used.  What is the effect the movements have on the viewer? List the movements in the video then tell how each is use to create emotion. Camera movements are used to portray an emotion to the audience to catch their attention and keep them interested. It can also emphasize emotions that are already portrayed by the actor.  crane shot- character is being dropped into a scene or audience is placed in the world . crane up- character is facing a large obstacle they need to overcome, or they feel very small. crane high to low angle- allows the character to appear strong and imposing. handheld camera- feeling of unease and danger quickpan-reveals something dangerous or something the character must overcome quick push in- surprise or shock slow dolly in- creates tension slow dolly out- emotional abandonment dolly across- reveals something that changes the emotion glidecam camera- ballet or dance feeling ...
Timing and spacing is important in animation because it is more pleasing to the viewer. It adds realism to the subject, or allows it to bring a character or object to life on the screen.
